Have a seat . . . down!

Jun 21, 2013

So what happens when people turn up for a hearing and find only one seat available? They think a little outside the box.

During the hearing of Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago at the High Court division at Twed Towers, Kampala, there was only one seat. The lawyers presiding over the case had to mix with the people standing. But with the free space on the floor, those who turned up decided to take a seat .... down!

Photographer Wilfred Sanya was there and froze a few of those moments.

CONFUSED LOOKS: Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago turned up with his supporters, including his lawyer and fellow MP Medard Segona.

LITTLE ROOM: There was not enough room for all on the single seat that was there. So while FDC's Ingrid Turinawe, Lukwago and Rubaga South MP Ken Lukyamuzi sat comfortably, the others put their feet to test by standing right behind.

HELLOS, HELLOS: And when they could not take standing any more, the members of the public that had come to witness the hearing finally swallowed the humble pie and eased to the floor. And much to their delight, legislators Betty Nambooze (wearing pink) and Ken Lukyamuzi joined them, as if in consolation.

STICKING HERE: When the police officers at the hearing saw this not-so-bizarre turn of events, they went out of the room to look for seats. But that moved no-one.

SIT DOWN: The floor received more joiners, with an elated Ingrid Turinawe more than delighted to take to the floor. Afterall, her colleagues were also down there. When the judge walked in for the hearing, he did not raise any alarm. He just carried on with the matters at hand.

LAST LAUGH: And at the end of it all, there was definitely something to muse about. MP Theodore Ssekikubo (right) no doubt had something to mingle about over the incident.
