You have probably witnessed leaders including President Yoweri Museveni launch water projects upcountry. One of the companies behind some of these civil engineering works providing clean water is Kol Services Limited.

“Here at Kol Services, our main strength lies into engineering that seeks to guarantee and ensure that local people have a feel and taste of clean and safe water especially upcountry,” says Lumu Stephen, the director.

According to Lumu, Kol Services decided to venture into water supply because they are happy to see hopeless people begin directly benefitting from their projects.

“I want to add that our choice to strengthen water projects is because we want to be easily visible as people use water whose origin stems from our executions,” adds Lumu.

Kol Services is a multiservice construction company that has been operating in Uganda since 2000. The company’s scope covers all areas of construction, including the pre and post phases. The company has over 12 years of experience in construction work, water works and engineering works.

Kol Services is proud to be the sole contractor of Kitgum and Pader towns piped water supply project which will be launched today.

Lumu thanks the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)and the Ministry of Water and Environment for financial assistance during the implementation of the project.

Kol Services is a dynamic Ugandan company, that is undoubtedly transforming itself into a leading construction company in the country.

Lumu explains that, “this success is built on the strategy of having vertically integrated operations, supported internationally through access to a knowledge bank fed by the company’s global network of specialists. The specialists are consulted to provide knowledge on cutting edge technologies worldwide.

Currently, the company is completing the construction of Kabong water supply system and it has already commissioned other projects in Karamoja.

“We are soon embarking on Bududa and Nabweya water projects and currently, we are also constructing a national animal disease diagnostic and epidemiology centre,” says Lumu.

A report available from water.org, a non-governmental organisation, access to water supply throughout Uganda is 65% while improved sanitation stands at 48%.

Previously, there were few communities especially upcountry with piped water supply but when Kol services started water engineering works; Lumu recalls that access to safe piped water increased.

According to Lumu, the company now has technology that generates chlorine from table salt to ensure people only consume safe piped water.

The company’s operational excellence is a result of the unwavering commitment to the ongoing training and education of staff members, as well as the nurturing of collaborative partnerships with clients and internationally recognised companies.

The firm offers a comprehensive range of services, which embrace several facets of the engineering and construction industry including civil, structural, water, electrical and mechanical engineering.
