Sports Club Villa registered their fifth draw of the season after a late equalizer against BUL FC in the Azam Premier League at Nakivubo Stadium on Tuesday.

They came into the game following the sacking of their coach Sam Ssimbwa and only came close to suffering defeat in his absence.

But an injury time leveler by Moses Gale offered the means of rescue the Kampala-based side needed.

Earlier, the hosts had taken the lead through Ronald Muganga before Patrick Asiko’s instant equalizer.  A reenergized BUL side went one more up with a Musa Doka own goal, setting up a tense finale for the home side.

BUL, lying sixth on the table, held on tight to their lead up until the very last minute when they let go, subjecting them to their seventh draw of this campaign.

That is two better than their Tuesday rivals who sit second in the league and trail leaders Vipers FC by eight points.

Despite the exit of their coach days before, Villa kept in touch with their momentum, started off strong and leaping ahead in the 15th minute when Muganga nodded home from a cross by Derrick Walulya.

BUL’s response was swift, and leveled the score five minutes later courtesy of an Asiko strike.

The Jinja-based side netted four against Proline FC in the Uganda Cup last week, but that is that kind of accuracy in front of goal that they struggled to replicate against their solid opponents.

They did double their score though when a Musa Doka error gifted them a crucial lead shortly after restart, but they were later undone by a red card shown to one of their own following retaliation against an opponent.

With one man down, the visitors managed to keep it together, only for them to run out of steam at the very end – 92nd minute – to let slip two important away points
