Down in Alilango village in Amolatar district, Dorcus Awigo, 38, is still traumatized after surviving death at the hands of her husband in a frightening incident that saw her daughter killed, police say.

Now Awigo is under close medical attention at Amolatar health centre where she was rushed to after being saved from the wrath of her husband.

The ugly incident, which occurred at around 4.00pm local time on Tuesday this week, stemmed from a heated domestic dispute, according to authorities.

During the disagreement, Joel Okello – Awigo’s husband – punched her endlessly before strangling her.

And when their daughter came to the rescue of her attacked mother, she received a fatal kick in the lower abdomen from her father, which killed her instantly.

The daughter, only identified as Ayiga, had tried but failed to save her mother from her father.

Deputy police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said Okello and his wife reportedly had a fiery quarrel that developed into the melee.

“Okello ended up beating the woman, strangled her until the daughter attempted to rescue her. Unfortunately she was kicked in stomach, leading to her instant death,” the police spokesperson said.

Okello is detained at Amolatar Police station and is held on murder charges, he added.

Relatives collected the body of the deceased, with burial arrangements underway.
