The former rally drivers in the 70s and 80s have urged the national motorsport governing body (FMU) to start organising adventurers and night rally events.

Grace Kabali, Asuman Junju, John Kulubya and Edward Ntege all advocated for the night rallies saying that they reduce on the accidents because there are a few people traveling at night and drivers tend to be more careful.

They cited the Moon Night Rally which was very adventurous and could tour several districts and had very challenging routes with rough roads, wetlands and hilly areas.

The quartet that was also nominated for Friday’s FMU awards in the legendary category added that the adventurers rallies will keep the drivers focused.

“We used to have what we referred to as route pass and you would score points when you identified that point and recorded what is written in that area,” Ntege Stated.

The legends also added that FMU should emphasis discipline and honesty in the sport.

“These days we are hearing of a lot of misunderstandings and counter accusations which I think FMU should address,” Kabali added.

Kabali also advocated for harsh punishments for the culprits of cheating in the event.

The FMU awards sponsored by City Tyres will be held on Friday at Silver Springs Hotels.
