Professional golfers head to the course on Thursday to fight for sh6m in the annual Captain's prize golf tournament at the Uganda Golf Club.


Lady Captain Katy Kabenge crowns her first term of office with the Flydubai sponsored annual tournament that will have over 200 golfers in action.

The professionals are on the course for two days before amateurs that will include foreign entrants take on the course on Saturday in the one-day's action in the medal format of play tournament that has attracted multiple sponsorship from a host of corporate companies.

Two business class air tickets await the overall winners of both the men and ladies categories on top of other enticing prizes like flat TV screens and a mountain bike among other goodies. There will also be guest prizes for the foreign entrants.

The top three performers in the men groups A-D and the ladies' groups A-C will all walk away with prizes alongside those who bring the best scores at the front and back nines as well as the nearest to the pin and longest drives in both the men and ladies categories.

"I'm returning as captain with all my executive members after completing a successful year. We have pulled off a number of tournaments for both the amateurs and caddies and this will crown it all," Kabenge told the media during a press conference at Kitante on Wednesday.

She said NSSF deputy managing director Geraldine Ssali will be chief guest at the end of the tournament.

"We are delighted to be part of the event despite being new on the market and we hope the winners will enjoy their trip with us,"Abraham Binod the commercial manager of Flydubai said.

Other sponsors of the event include Coca Cola, UBL, ICEA,Steel and Tube, Uniliver, Sheraton, City Tyres, Security 2000, Sipla, Ferduslt and Case Medical.
