THE Dolphins Swim Club have stepped up preparation ahead of their participation in the Kenya Swimming Federation Long Course National Age Group and Open Championship due February 27-March 1 in Nairobi.

Dolphins coach Muzafar Muwanguzi will lead a 24-man team to the annual championship where they have performed well over the past three years.

Last year Dolphins eleven year old Celina Katumba won 9 gold and 3 silver medals on top of the overall trophy for girls.

She is returning this year alongside USPA swimmer of the year 2012 Tendo Mukalazi, Arnold Kisulo, Adnan Kabuye, Joel Kasirye, Suubi Byansi, Kirabo Namutebi, Samora Lumonya, Francine Gasasira and Andrew Odiit among others.

"We have always done well in Kenya events and Dolphins is now a house hold name. The level of competition is high with over 3000 swimmers in each of their galas, so it is our aim to take our swimmers there as a way of gaining experience," Dolphins General Secretary Stephen Katumba said.

Ahead of the competition the Dolphins were offered the 50 meter Speke Resort Munyonyo swimming pool for training free of charge 'to have a feel of the long course pool'.

Rwanda Air has also offered them discounted Air tickets with St, Augustine University also chipping in on the sponsorship front.
