Veteran Politician and former presidential candidate Jaberi Bidandi Ssali is recovering from an accident in Kiwatule a week ago.

Bidandi the former local government minister and president of People’s Progressive Party (PPP), was rushed to the intensive care unit at Nakasero hospital last Saturday, after sustaining multiple injuries when his car rammed into a Fuso truck at Kisasi roundabout while heading to Kiwatule recreation centre.

Speaking to New Vision online,Bidandi's political assistant, Saddam Gayira said his boss was ow feeling much better and ready to go home but the doctors are still monitoring his situation before discharging him.

“He can now eat, sit and speak. But doctors still limit the number of people visiting him because he needs enough rest to recover. They say he does not need to talk much. In fact he would have been discharged but the doctors want him to be under close monitoring,” he said.

Gayira said he expects the doctors to discharge him anytime. Bidandi was in company of Gayira when the accident happened.

This is the third time Bidandi is getting admitted. Last year, he was admitted at Kampala Hospital twice after falling at his home in Bukoto. He was later flown to Bangkok for specialised treatment.

The doctors said he had an imbalance in the inner ear due to fewer fluids which had caused him unstable movements and advised him to have enough rest.
