Ndejje Woodball Club player, Sophie Namuddu underlined her intention of winning the ladies Beach Woodball Circuit title this season following her weekend’s performance.

Namuddu, who finished third last season, stood out to surprise top contenders Lillian Zawedde and defending champion Joan Mukoova on Sunday at Sports Beach in Entebbe.

Namuddu was tied in points with Zawedde and Mukoova after the ninth fairways but managed to stretch to a 53 strokes lead in the final fairway.

The former Ndejje University player who attributed her success to a high level of confidence finished with one point ahead of close challengers Victoria Nankabirwa from Ndejje University and Shamsa Nantege from Ndejje Woodball Club tied at 54 strokes in 12 fairways.

“I got the confidence after realizing that I was paired in with my friend Zawedde in the same set and I knew if I was to beat her then I will have won,” She said after the victory.

Zawedde and Mukoova finished in fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Meanwhile in the men’s category USPA woodball player of the year 2014 Joel Adupa won the opening circuit with 50 strokes.
