EGAKU Gerald came off the bench to score the winning goal in a pulsating final at Kigezi High School in Kabale as St. Mary’s Kitende won the COPA Coca-Cola schools championship.

Kitende dominated the first half but couldn’t find a way past the stoic Zana defence. Kitende tactician Joseph Kasana introduced Egaku early in the second half for the ineffective Shafik Bukenya and the impact was instant.

Egaku got on the end of a sweeping move to finish from close range in the 56th minute to give Kitende a lead they never relinquished.

Zana camped in Kitende’s half in search of an equaliser but were let down by poor finishing.

The slender win secured Kitende a 7th COPA Coca-Cola schools championship title.
