The Siamese twins admitted at Mulago hospital have developed pneumonia.

The hospital's spokesperson Enock Kusasira told New Vision that Apio and Adong are also on life support since they have a breathing problem.

“Our doctors are doing every thing possible to save the lives of innocent babies,” he revealed.

He said doctors have not thought of operation of the twins because they are not yet near the required weight of 10 kilograms.

The female twins born recently in Ngora district have separate hearts but in one sac. One's heart has four chambers of the heart while another twin has two chambers.  The babies do not also share the spine,"

The babies are currently admitted at the hospital's Special care Unit. The twins were born by a 33 year -old Faith Noah Atim and  Misairi Okiror but their mother   passed on after the  ceaserian operation on 4 May; then transferred to Mulago the May 9.

The first pair of female twins born in this district died in January last year. The female twins, born at seven months, were joined at the chest and abdomen up to the umbilical cord. The twins were born at Kumi hospital by a 19-year-old Agnes Anyait and Augustine Ojangole, 23.
