Outgoing Katikkiro of Buganda Eng. John Baptist Walusimbi is set to handover office to the new Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga at Bulange Mengo.

The Monday afternoon ceremony will see the Mayiga becoming the fourth Katikkiro during Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi’s reign.

Walusimbi on Sunday held his last official meeting with Kabaka Mutebi, where he also returned the official kingdom mace (Ddamula).

Mayiga has served in the kingdom as the information minister and working together with the youth, whom the Kabaka believes are the foundation of the kingdom development.

Walusimbi replaced ambassador Emmanuel Ndawula, who had been appointed to act after the tenure of Dan Muliika ended prematurely on February 10, 2007.

Muliika, who had replaced Mulwanyamuli Ssemwogerere on December 28, 2005, is remembered for his tough talk against corruption in the Buganda kingdom.
