Departed singer Martin Angume’s father paid tribute to  thousands of fans who stood by his son during his days of sickness.

Angume, arguably an artiste who had a voice to die for, according to his close friend Mesach Semakula, succumbed to multiple organ failure in Mulago after being bed-ridden for a month.

His parents, John Akulu and Esteeri Yira of Kayunga Kitwe village, Kayonza sub county, Kayunga district thanked friends and fans of the fallen singer for the overwhelming support they extended their son.

His father Akulu said they received the bad news while they were digging at home and at first thought it was the usual false alarm such as the one that circulated in the media two weeks back.

The fifth of ten children, Angume was hailed by his father as a clever child who always came first or second in class and said he had supported them ever since his music career started budding.  His most memorable song was 'Gear Nene' Angume is being laid to rest today.
