Lawrence Muhenda had the last laugh in a showdown with national teammate Adolf Muhumuza in the 6th edition of the Brigadier Noble Mayombo Memorial Golf Tournament at Toro Club over the weekend.
Muhenda fired a two-day aggregate of 142 gross, edging out Muhumuza by just one stroke to win the tournament in memory of their prominent member and former Vision Group Board Chairman Mayombo.
Denis Otim with 140 nett beat Sarapio Mugenyi by three shots to top group A while Herbert Kaihura claimed the group B accolade with 143 nett. Kaihura beat Stephen Kanyamatonwa by one shot. Yusuf Muhenda won in group C.
Betty Alikyogera, Christine Anyango and Emma Jakisa emerged supreme in the women’s group A, B and C respectively. Emma Jakisa won the junior event with 78 gross.
Internal Security Organisation (ISO) Director General Col. Ronnie Balya who was chief guest hailed Toro club for their commitment to the tournament in honour of Mayombo who supported many development projects and an advocate of peace and stability in Africa.
Mayombo’s family was represented by his young brother David Olimi who described him as a loving brother and family man.
Newrest Uganda Inflight Services pledged to continue sponsoring the tournament.
