Handball Federation takes game to schools

The national handball governing bodies (UHF) will this year focus on grassroots development in the various districts of the country.

The national handball governing bodies (UHF) will this year focus on grassroots development in the various districts of the country.


The Federation Secretary Sauda Babirye told Vision Online in an interview that what they have decided to engage district sports officers and take the sports to primary schools so that they are able to build a strong foundation.

"I know we shall have financial challenges but we are taking the sport to various districts in primary schools so that we build the foundation for the sport," Babirye stated.

Meanwhile the Federation President Sheila Richardson added that she is confident the national men and women's team preparing for the Zone 5 All Africa Games next month (Febuary 11-16) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia will emerge victorious.

"We shall bring results. Our teams are training and we are looking for funds to be able to go into residential training," Sheila added.

The teams started training on Wednesday January 14, at Police Training School Kibuli.

According to UHF official Augustine Mugalu all players should honour the call with immediate effect.
