KAMPALA - An assistant commissioner in Ministry of Defence, John Bosco Kariisa, has been dragged to court for allegedly snatching the wife of a policy analyst.

Dr. Geoffrey Tumwesigye alleges that Kariisa committed adultery and fathered a child with his wife. He wants Kariisa to pay him damages amounting to $350,000 (about sh962,500,000) for the pain he put him in.

Rev. Nathan Mwesigye of St James Cathedral Deanery (Ankole Diocese) presided over Tumwesigye’s marriage to Judith Atwine Tumwesigye on September 20, 2008 at St James Cathedral Ruharo, Mbarara.

Through Mpeirwe and Co. Advocates, Tumwesigye has filed a petition for a divorce and Kariisa and Atwine have been summoned to appear in court.

The suit filed at the High Court of Kampala family division recently, states that Kariisa has had an affair with Atwine, a housewife, since 2009.

Tumwesigye explained that DNA results proved that Kariisa had a child with Atwine.

Tumwesigye contends that he did not have a conjugal relationship with Atwine when she conceived and delivered a child.

He added that he had been deeply disturbed by his wife’s adulterous ways and decided to have their marriage dissolved by court.

In his petition, Tumwesigye says he has suffered setbacks after paying for bills for a child that is not his.

When New Vision contacted Kariisa on the matter, he declined to comment.

However, in an affadavit, a copy of which New Vision has obtained, Kariisa has so far denied the allegation.

Kariisa, in counter–claims, is also demanding for ($55,000 (about sh153m) before the suit can be heard.

Tumwesigye said after the adulterous acts, Kariisa drafted and sent a proposal agreement to him for reconciliation and arbitration.
