I have a crush, but...

When I had just joined Bukedde TV, I covered a story about a dog which had produced so many puppies. While reporting I said ‘Embwa Kazaalabwana’.

Patrick Mukasa aka Kazaalabwana, a news anchor and reporter with Bukedde TV, is single and searching. He talked to Carol Kasujja about how he handles stalkers

What does Kazaalabwana mean?
When I had just joined Bukedde TV, I covered a story about a dog which had produced so many puppies. While reporting I said ‘Embwa Kazaalabwana’. From that time, my colleagues started calling me Kazaalabwana. The more I resisted the name, the more they used it. So, I started using it.

Your voice sounds too serious. Do you speak the same way when seducing girls?
Hehehe! No, when I am talking to ladies, Iam soft and romantic, but at times my voice is too serious that it puts off some.

You have the looks, height and the voice, could you by any chance be in a relationship?
I am single and heartbroken, but I am not searching. There is a girl I dated for about two years, but I threw her out because she was too commanding and moody. I could not stand her personality. Right now, I am not in a relationship.

For how long are you going to mourn over that?
I have a crush on someone, but I do not know whether she has the qualities I want in a woman. But I really like her.

What are you looking for in a woman?
I want a God-fearing, beautiful, disciplined and educated woman, with a good past.

It is alleged that ever since you started reading Agatalikko Nfuufu headlines, girls are always calling you. How do you handle stalkers?
My voice is scary on phone, so when a girl calls me and realises that I am not a joking person, she backs off. But some stalkers are so stubborn, they insist. But I am very principled and I do not give them a chance to call me back. The first time you call me, I tell you off that I am not interested.

You are always busy looking for news and emceeing at functions, do you have time for love?
It is true I am busy, but when I am in love with someone, I always create time for her. I do not want to say that I am always busy because the girl I have a crush on may read the interview and turn down my proposal, thinking I will not be there for her. I am busy, but I have time for a girlfriend.

Is your voice natural or do you jazz it up?
My voice is very natural. I am sure you can also hear it. I just raise it when I am reading news.

When did you realise that your voice was an asset?
When I was still at university, I used to emcee at functions by imitating Ssozi Kaddu Mukasa, a former news anchor on a local radio station. One day, my friend told me that I could start reading news. I started listening to Kaddu and before I knew it, I had picked interest in news and journalism.

How do you feel when people on the streets imitate you?
I love it. It makes me feel good and proud.
