Police Darts Club dominated the season winning all the three major events on the Uganda Darts Association (UDA) calendar.

The club won national league, the Super Cup and the Inter Club Knockout titles.

The club’s success was mainly engineered by Mathias Okwir, Geoffrey Onen, Patrick Ochieng, Emmanuel Bitwire, Maria Namuganyi, Jackie Ngarambe and Jennifer Kageye.

Former league champions Prisons, who were expected to mount a serious challenge for success, went down to Police in the Super Cup and in the league finals.

But Prisons represented Uganda in the Tanzania Open in Dodoma and the Narok County Open in Kenya.

The team’s kingpin Ronald Kalete emerged champion in the singles at the Narok event.

But in the Uganda Open, Kenyan and Tanzanian players turned up in low numbers. In the final, Ronald Kalete edged compatriot Geoffrey Onen to win the title. In the ladies singles, Dinah Amoding saw off Kenya’s Rosemary Wangoi to emerge champion.

Elsewhere, Team Uganda had a dismal performance as Kenya dominated the East Africa Darts Federation Championship in Nairobi.

But UDA secretary David Tabaro said that the lack of funds hampered the growth of darts around the country.

He added that this affected the performance of some clubs.
