UCA XI 99/10
Takashinga 76/10
Uganda win by 23 runs
Today: Rest day
The only thing worse than a terrible first innings is a disastrous second innings.
Thanks to Frank Nsubuga, the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) XI turned a dreadful batting show into their first victory against the Takashinga XI on Thursday at Kyambogo.
Nsubuga claimed an absurd 6/13 in 10 overs, including three maidens, as the UCA XI atoned for their miserable total of 99/10 by wiping out their visitors for an even worse 76/10.
It was that kind of day. Wasn’t it?
Lawrence Sematimba, Davis Karashani and Brian Masaba, were the only double digit scorers for the Ugandan team with 20, 18 and 13 runs respectively as the hosts famed battling struggles flared up for the third time in as many games against Takashinga.
However, every now then an opening batting collapse is accompanied by another collapse and so it proved in this affair.
With the surface unyielding to all batters, Takashinga took their turn to crumble, with Nsubuga’s off break inflicting severe damage to help secure a morale-boosting win for the UCA XI.
Raza Butt, Tinotenda Mutumbozi, Prosper Utseya and Odecious Manje scored 18, 16, 14, and 11 respectively runs for Takashinga.
Henry Senyondo took 3/35 for the UCA XI, who once again demonstrated the amazing defensive abilities that will be the foundation of Uganda’s bid at next month’s ICC World Cricket League Division 2 in Namibia.
Today is rest day in the tour series.
