A Dear Anon,
Bleeding after sexual intercourse is not a good sign and can be alarming.
Pelvic inflammatory diseases cause lower abdominal pain and bleeding after sex. However, you should not only limit the situation to that. Bleeding after sex can also result from rough sex, as this causes vaginal trauma.

There may be other underlying conditions for which bleeding after intercourse is a symptom. Conditions that affect the cervix can also cause post-intercourse bleeding. Sometimes people develop polyps or small growths on the cervix, which is also a possible cause of bleeding after sex.

Cervical inflammation also referred to as cervicitis as well as cervical cancer can also cause bleeding. See a gynaecologist to rule out cancer and establish the cause.
