Geoffrey Massa is determined to win the prestigious top scorers golden boot in the South Africa ABSA Premiership this season.

“I will do everything to win it this season,” Massa told New Vision on Wednesday after scoring twice to inspire AmaTuks to a 5-1 win over Polokwane at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Thabo Mnyamane also netted twice, while Atusayi Nyondo got the other for Tuks. Cole Alexander netted the home’s only goal.

But all the headlines belonged to Massa, who has taken the South Africa domestic football by storm.

The Ugandan forward did not only torment Polokwane all afternoon, he became joint-top scorer in the ABSA Premiership alongside Polokwane’s Puleng Tlolane on seven goals.

The ABSA Premiership winning team pockets R10m (sh2.3b) while the top scorer settles for R25000-sh5m (1-15 goals), R50000-sh12m (16-20 goals), R75000-sh18m or R100000-sh23m (Over 26 goals).

On Tuesday, after goals from Myamane, Nyondo (AmaTuks) and Alexander (Polokwane) had set up a tense finish to this fixture; Massa stepped forward and ultimately decided its destiny.

He dribbled past three Polokwane defenders before slotting past Polokwane keeper Dino Visser in the 76th minute.

He completed his brace on 87 minutes after yet another impressive piece of individual brilliance.

This time, Massa ghosted past two defenders before slotting past Visser for his seventh goal of the season.

Mnyamane completed the rout with a thunderous volley.

The win moves Tuks up to 10th place with 18 points from 16 matches.

“I missed out last season because I played half the games Parker (Benard) had featured. Parker won it on 10 goals, I managed seven.

“Good enough, I have not had injury problems. I hope to keep fit; I know I will score a couple more in the season,” Massa added.
