Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Uganda (EGPAF is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS, and has reached more than 16 million women worldwide with services to prevent transmission of HIV to their babies.

INTRODUCTION

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Uganda (EGPAF is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS, and has reached more than 16 million women worldwide with services to prevent transmission of HIV to their babies. It currently works at 5,500 sites and in 15 countries to implement prevention, care, and treatment services; to further advance innovative research; and to execute strategic and targeted global advocacy activities in order to bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children, and families worldwide.

In Uganda, EGPAF is supporting the Uganda National AIDS Control Program and the Ministry of Health to increase access to a broad range of comprehensive, high quality HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (TB) services for children, women, and families in 13 districts of the Southwestern region (Kisoro, Kanungu, Rukungiri, Kabale, Ntungamo, Ibanda, Isingiro, Kiruhura, Bushenyi, Sheema, Buhweju, Mitooma, and Rubirizi) - covering over 200 health facilities.

 

EGPAF, UGANDA requests bids from qualified consultant teams to conduct training for its Senior Management Teams aimed to strengthen the leadership and management skills of the team but also improve in role mapping. We are aiming at enhancing the level of professionalism and the management team’s capacity to effectively and efficiently manage people as well as overall performance to achieve exceptional results from a highly motivated team.

 

WORKSHOP AIM AND OBJECTIVES

 

The workshop will have the following aim and objectives.

Aim: To equip 16 to 18 Managers/Supervisors in/ with effective employee management skills and managing of functions through the following:

 

1. Self Awareness through personality test (Know who you are and how your personality impact team performance) and analysis of individual leadership styles.

 

2. Communication enhancement and alignment for productivity (Top down, down up, lateral)

 

3. Knowing your team: Tapping individual strength for team productivity, managing diversity for results through employee motivation, engagement, skills development (mentoring and coaching), recognition and rewarding performance

 

4. Problem Solving and decision making (Planning, Prioritizing, Delegation and supervision)

 

5. Leading with courage and Accountability

 

6. Performance management – this should cover the following areas among others;

 

Giving and receiving difficult feedback

 

managing challenging employees

 

setting clear and measurable goals

 

coaching for results

 

7. Conflict management - handling workplace conflict.

 

APPROACH

 

The workshop participants will be facilitated through the process using Adult Learning methodologies. As such, practical exercises buzz group discussions, activity sheets, group work, role plays, case studies and audio-visual aids will be used.

 

SCOPE OF WORK

 

Overall the consultant will,

1. Hold consultative meetings with the relevant management staff for a pre-training assessment of participants including personality tests and translations and the Foundation’s expected outcome of

the training

2. Develop training materials (trainer materials/module that includes each session’s objectives, time and learning methodology).

3. Develop reader friendly participant handouts that will cover the following aspects among others

4. To develop a 4 -day detailed workshop programme (timetable, broken into mini sessions) that will ensure that all topics aforementioned are covered during a 4 - day period.)

5. To submit the training programme to EGPAF – Uganda for approval and to incorporate any comments that the Foundation might have into it at least 5 working days prior to the training

6. To develop practical training aids (PowerPoint presentati ons, samples, activity worksheets, case studies, etc) for all sessions in the approved training programme.

7. To organize participants learning packages (folders, etc)

8. To conduct the 4-day training session at a venue designated by EGPAF

 

9. To prepare a detailed workshop report with an electronic copy of all teaching aids, train, supervise and assist in the following transactions

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE REQUIRED

1. The two lead consultants should posses an advanced degree in any of the following fields; management, organizational psychology, organizational development or other relevant advanced degree.

2. They should demonstrate past experience in delivering trainings in the areas of leadership, management, change management and organizational development.

 

3. A minimum of 8 years professional experience in their area of expertise
