A Branch manager of Dembelyo Telecom Limited, an agent of MTN in Mukono was on Tuesday evening shot dead allegedly by a security guard. Police identified the deceased as Meddie Tamale, a resident of Rubaga village in Kampala district.
Police Wednesday said Bosco Ogwang, a private security guard attached to Security Group, a private firm had gone missing with a gun he is suspected to have used to shoot dead Tamale as he entered his parents' home in Ntinda village in Seeta Mukono district.
The acting deputy police force spokesperson Patrick Onyango said, preliminary police investigations revealed that, Ogwang signed for the gun to perform his night duties at Mukono-Kayunga Teachers SACCO on the Mukono-Kayunga road.
He, however, never reached his place of work instead headed to Seeta where he allegedly shot Tamale.
The officer in charge of crime at Mukono Police, Henry Mugumya said that Tamale was shot as he branched off to his mother Zam Zawedde's home in the Municipality. Mugumya said that Tamale was driving a saloon car Ipsum registration number UAR 476D when he was shot.
He added that investigations are going on although by press time no arrest had been made.
Sarah Kaziga the deceased's sister told New Vision that Tamale was hit by a securiko man in a uniform.
Kazige said the assailants were two men, a securiko guard in a uniform with a gun and another man who was in civilian clothes.
She said it took some time before noticing what had happened after Tamale was shot and the murderers disappeared with unidentified amount of money in his car and a laptop.
Kazige said that Tamale was first rushed to a local clinic which referred him to Mulago because he had lost much blood.
He died immediately on arrival to the emergency room in which he was going to receive medication.
"This was the third time assailants were trying to rob him. He survived the last incidents and this time it was not possible," Kazige said.
