Golfers from across the country will not only enjoy the beautiful Scenery at the newly constructed Garuga Golf Club in Kihihi but will also rub shoulders with some of the wildlife that is immense in the area.

According to course designer Gad Musasizi, animals such as kobs, antelopes, foxes, rabbits and monitor lizards among others roam the course as they look for food

He says the animals are harmless and wishes the Uganda Wildlife Authority could even bring in more to give the golfer a complete tourism experience as they go about their game.

A group of five golfers from Kabale Golf Club were the first to test the course ahead of the Paulo Ngorogoza memorial golf tournament due on Saturday and  were all praises for the beauty but wary for the challenging nature of the lay-out.

"I thought the Entebbe course was tough but this one is even tougher; I went with 8 balls and lost all of them," Benon Tugume said after completing 15 holes on Wednesday.

"The course designer had some element of malice for the golfer but the course  is good; the greens are challenging and very fast and the par 4's are really very long," Adam Tusiime another golfer from Kabale commented.

The tournament starts on Friday with a 36-hole round for the professionals who are battling for sh10m before the main event on Saturday.

Golfers will have to be at their best to manouvre past the 'Rift valley' par 3 hole No. 11 and the 'bad news' par 3 hole 13 which according to the designer were  made like that to bring the best out of the golfer.

"The holes are fully regulated because we had enough land; its an absolute test  for the golfer because it offers him chance to take different shots and display all his skills, when you play well under all these challenges you feel very well after," Gad Musasizi stated.
