Zedekiah Etyang, who was once a deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) has died, aged 75.

Zedekiah Etyang, who was once a deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) has died, aged 75.

He died on Sunday at Mt. Elgon Hospital in Mbale district where he had been bedridden over an intestinal obstruction.

Etyang joined the Uganda Police Force as a constable in 1961 and served at various ranks after taking a series of courses, before he was appointed the deputy inspector general of Police in 1990.

He held the post for two years before retiring in 1992 after 31 years of service.

Etyang was born in 1939 at Morukatipe central village in Osukuru sub-county, Tororo district.

He will be buried today (Thursday) at his home in Agururu ‘B’ village, western division in Tororo municipality.

The Malaba regional Police spokesperson, Michael Odongo, said the Police have taken over the burial arrangements together with the family.
