Museveni woos Turkish investors

President Yoweri Museveni has said government is committed to developing infrastructure in the energy and transport sector that is adequate, affordable and accessible by all Ugandans urging Turkish investors to partner with government to support the railway construction by working with the engineering department of the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF).

Government is planning the construction of a railway line that will have a standard gauge of 1.41 meters wide.

Museveni was meeting Turkish investors at State House in Entebbe, led by the founder and the CEO of MNG Companies Group Mehmet Nazif Günal. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Energy and Mineral Development Eng. Irene Muloni, The Attorney General Peter Nyombi, the Minister of State for Finance Fred Omach and that of State for Works Eng. John Byabagambi and Uganda’s Honorary Consul in Istanbul Mustafa Gunay.

The President said the NRM government is determined to improve the infrastructure like railway lines among others, that will go a long way in lowering costs of production and will in turn set  a conducive investment environment that will attract investors to the country as they will be able to maximize profits.

Mehmet Nazif Gunal expressed his company’s keen interest of investing in hydro power generation as well as partner in railway line construction.

The MNG Group is a construction and contracting firm dealing with infrastructure projects of all kinds both in Turkey and abroad. Some of these include high-rise buildings, shopping and commercial centers, hotels, resort villages, industrial plants, dams and hydroelectric power plants, irrigation systems, tunnels, highways, concrete silos, waste water and drinking water treatment plants, and ground stabilization and piling works.

The meeting was attended by several line cabinet ministers.
