In 2011, CRO received a national award (Tumaini) during the Day of the African Child celebrations for having the best program for street children in the country. It was a tremendous achievement as Mbale District also recognized CRO with a certificate of merit for the wonderful work done in the District.

CRO VISION:

“Children formally living on the streets holistically transformed into productive and responsible persons in society”

CRO MISSION:

“To rebuild the lives of children on the streets, restore and reconcile them with God and with their families, empowering

them to become productive.

The work of CRO is overseen by the National Board of Directors and the Program Boards at the district levels. A total of 29 members (10 females and 19 males) comprise the CRO Boards.

The Boards meet quarterly to formulate policies, discuss the work of CRO, and to recruit or discipline staff. CRO is supported by a number of Donor Partners, Companies, and individuals who give financial, material, spiritual and technical support. It is through this support that CRO has been able to touch the lives of the vulnerable children and to change families.

CRO projects are members of OVC committees at the districts and sub counties where they monitor Child Abuse in the community. Some of the agencies collaborated with include; Programme for Labour Action, District government departments, The AIDS Support Organization (TASO), Transparency International, Masaka District Network for AIDS Support Organizations, Aids Information Centre.
