A strong showing by the local heroes in the quarterfinals of the Castle Lite Uganda Tennis Open has sparked off optimism of a final between the country’s in form players Duncan Mugabe and David Oringa at Kampala Club tomorrow.

Mugabe, the 2011 champion, bundled out his childhood friend Moses Otiti to set up a semifinal clash with Rwandan Jean Claude

Gasigwa in which the Ugandan should have an upper hand.

On his part, defending champion Oringa defeated Rwanda’s Olivier Nkunda 6-1,6-0.

Oringa will now face in-form Rwandan Dieudonne Habiyambere in the other semifinal today.

‘’The game is going to be challenging since he knows the way I play and I also know how he plays,’’Oringa stated.

Oringa added that although he has met Habiyambere in the ITF money circuit and ITF futures tournament, he says he will work hard to win.

Oringa lost to Habyambere in the money circuit but secured victory in the futures tournament.

The desired final for the home fans would be between Mugabe and Oringa who recently faced off in the Best of the Best tournament at Lugogo. Mugabe won.
