How Mukiibi built the St. Lawrence business empire

St. Lawrence Schools and Colleges is a well-known group of six private secondary schools and a university with a total of 10,000 students from the entire Great Lakes region. They topped the education sector in Uganda’s Top 50 Brands, last year.

Next month, they will make two decades in existence. But behind this sprawling business empire is a man who started out as a secondary school teacher in Kenya, where he had fled to escape Idi Amin’s wrath after university.

Upon his return, Lawrence Mukiibi teamed up with partners to build a school with only six students. He told Conan Businge how he has managed to grow from six students to an enviable education empire. Read more of this story here at E-paper.
