Dr. Edward Ssembatya came from a family so poor that he studied at the expense of his sisters because money was insufficient to  meet their tuition. But the night his wife could not find help when giving birth to their daughter because the medical facilities were too far, opened his eyes to the reality of the need for functional and acccesible health facilities.

Today, he runs Busabala Road Nursing Home, famed for being one of the first medical centres to treat HIV/AIDS patients in Uganda. He also has a major stake in a drug manufacturing company, owns real estate and is a farmer. How did he doit? Elvis Basudde and Sebidde Kiryowa found out.
