Geoffrey Massa reminded Ghana of what to expect when Cranes confront the Black Stars on November 15 with a match-winning performance against Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday night.

The 28-year-old forward, who was controversially dropped for the first leg against Ghana, struck twice as the Ama Tuks revived their faltering season with a 3-0 drubbing of Ajax Cape Town at the Tuks Stadium.

The Urban Warriors had been on a great run of form, while AmaTuks had yet to win at home, but that all changed thanks to Geoffrey Massa’s brace and another from Thabo Mnyamane.

AmaTuks got off to the perfect start, opening the scoring in the 11th minute through Massa, who prodded in from close range after Khethukuthula Zwane’s corner-kick was nodded into his path.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors eight minutes later, with Mnyamane doubling the lead. Massa cut infield before setting up the striker, whose first-time effort from the edge of the area left Anssi Jaakkola with no chance.

The hosts continued to create the better chances, with Ajax failing to produce the goods in the final third.

Massa went close to completing his brace on the stroke of half-time, turning his man before hitting a powerful effort straight at Jaakola.

The Ugandan striker however sealed the deal with a minute of regulation time remaining. A poor clearance from Jaakkola landed favourably for the sturdy striker, who turned and chipped the stranded keeper.

Uganda battles Ethiopia in a friendly this Sunday before taking on Ghana next weekend.

Sunday’s friendly against Ethiopia has been organised by the Ministry of Health and FUFA as part of several efforts to rejuvenate the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda.
