Muyingo tips graduands on employment

UGANDA’S economic recovery and development lies more in technical skill rather than theoretical undertaking, the State minister for high education, John C. Muyingo has said.

 

Muyingo said the reason government supports skilling program is that it is in line reducing the rate of unemployment in the country.

 

He explained that the secret used by industrial countries like Japan to surge ahead of others in industrialization is that they develop human resource with relevant skills that fit in the market demands.

 

“Our experience can be drawn from industrialized countries like Germany and Japan who had quick economic recovery from World War II by developing technical manpower to rebuild their shattered economies” Muyingo said.

 

He made the remarks during the 8th graduation ceremony of Spear Motors Training Centre Nakawa. 

 

He stated that our institutions are challenged with the relevance of skills imparted to students in research and outreach activities that can affirmatively change quality of life for our people.

 

He urged parents to encourage youth to enroll for carrier oriented courses like commercial agriculture they can earn money for living. 

 

The chairman of Spear Motors, Gordon Wanamunno said the graduates are trained to be jobbing creator no job seekers.

 

“You have integrate, confidence and discipline which is an advantage for you to compete in the job market” he told the 355 grandaunts He called upon parents to support and guide their children while executing the knowledge they have acquired from the training centre.

 

Wavamunno advised companies to allow students to do internship in their companies to be able to explore he working environment for the good of the employers.

 

About 335 students from the academic year 2009 to 20013 graduated with certificates in motor vehicle mechanic from Spear Motors Training Centre
