Two Australian tourists have died in fatal accident along Mubende highway.

Two Australian tourists have died in fatal road accident along Mubende highway.



The deceased were said to be a couple, riding on a motorcycle from Kasese to Kampala.


Alex Muramuzi, the traffic officer, Mubende police station said the accident occurred at Namagogo, about three kilometers to Mubende town.


He said the deceased were traveling on a motorcycle with customized number plate, CUNJl, a BMW, when they rammed into a Toyota Prado, registration number UAV 624 T.


He identified the deceased as Griffioen Dean, 33, an Australian National and Griffioen Tanya Natasha, 34, also an Australian national.



Muramuzi said one person died on th spot while the other died on the way to Mubende hospital.


“According to their passports, the two have traveled through several African countries riding their motorcycle, and the rider had an international driving license,” Muramuzi said.


He blamed the accident to reckless driving of the Prado driver who knocked them.


About the deceased


A quick google search indicates that the deceased was a civil engineer in Austria, Queensland and also a member of the  motorcycling body, MQ, Motorcycling Queensland.
