Heathens’ fullback Philip Wokorach attributed his excellent perfomance in his side’s 64-3 smashing of Mutoni Warriors to the determination to win not only the Golden Boot award, but also the top try scorer and MVP awards for 2014/15 season.

Wokorach disclosed his secret to New Vision after the Nile Special Premier Rugby League game at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Which he scored four tries and made an assist for Asuman Mugerwa’s try.

“It is not just a good comeback but I want this season’s golden boot, top try scorer and MVP awards at home at the end of the season,” Wokorach stated with confidence.

He attributed the poor kicking form he experienced to the wet ground as he failed to convert four opportunities.

“The ground was wet and my boot was heavy that I could not lift the foot. But that is the kind of training I am going back to work on,” he added.

Lawrence Ssebuliba and team captain Michael Wokorach added two tries each, as Alex Mubiru, Bishop Onen, Evans Kingasia added one each. Owen Kinyera scored Mutoni Warriors consolation penalty.

In Entebbe, Sadolin Mongers were 21-17 winners over Toyota Buffaloes in a mouthwatering clash that had Buffaloes miss the services of Ezekiel Okol and Charles Uhuru.

At Legends, Kobs whitewashed Impis 68-0 with 2013/14 MVP Oscar Kalyango scoring two tries. Steven Ogwete, Justin Kimono, Joseph Aredo, Derick Tukwasiibwe, Emma Echodu and Scot Oluoch added a try each.

Meanwhile in the ladies category Thunderbirds whipped Black Panthers 41-5 at Kyadondo Rugby Club ground.

Christine Kizito and Matilda Tino made two tries each as Samiya Ayikoru, Asha Nakityo, and Rachael Kakaire added a try each and Helen Gizamba managed Panthers’ consolation try.

The local rugby league is sponsored by Nile Special.
