KAMPALA - A woman is reported to have committed suicide Saturday morning at Workers House in Kampala.

The details of the horrific incident are disturbing.

The woman who has been identified as Annet Ashaba, 26, who hailed from Sembabule, according to a passport that was found on the body, went to the building this morning.

Just like so many other visitors, she seemed to be going about her business.

Witnesses say she went up to the fourteenth floor, blindfolded herself and leaped to her death at about 9.15am.

The first people at the scene said she broke her limbs.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said they are so far treating the case as a suicide unless any other information comes up.

The building, which rises up to more than 20 floors is known to have hosted previous such deaths.

Two years ago, a 26-year-old woman plunged to her death from the 14-floor of the same building.

It was later established that Justine Nalugya of Kamuli zone in Kireka, Wakiso district had jumped to her death after being job-frustrated.

A 2007-graduate, Nalugya was found with a black bag containing documents, thought to be related to job seeking.
