The High Court will on Friday start hearing a case where developments at Nakivubo stadium are being challenged.

Nakivubo Board of Trustees and Management, KCCA and the Attorney General are being jointly sued by a group of sportsmen who insist the developments are not in the interest of sports.

Former Cranes players Issa Sekatawa, Jimmy Sekandi and retired boxers Maureen Mulangira, Emmanuel Mwesigwa, Mohammed Hassan, Leonard Mutebi and Ibrahim Mukalazi want court to take action.

The complainants want the respondents restrained from further construction until final determination of the main application for a temporary injunction.

Ham Shopping Mall, which takes up the bulk of the land allocated by the Nakivubo trustees for re-development, also took up the netball facility.

Hamis Kiggundu, the proprietor of the mall, had promised to set up a more modern netball court. That is yet to happen. The southern section of the stadium, which houses the boxing, weightlifting and bodybuilding gyms, is supposed to go next.
