Real name Phiona Nabitengero is the presenter of Bukedde TV’s Ekyenkya Kya Weekend on Saturday and Bukedde radio’s Bukedde Butya from Monday to Friday. She spoke to Grace Nafuna

HOW OLD ARE YOU?
(Laughs) A woman’s age is her secret; but I am below 25 years of age (she later reveals that she is 23).

AS A TELEVISION PRESENTER, WE IMAGINE THAT YOU HAVE MANY STALKERS, HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH ALL THE ATTENTION?
Like any other beautiful woman, I have a lot of stalkers, this is even made worse by the nature of my job. However, when I am off television, I take on a different persona. I am principled and straight-forward. I will bluntly ask you to tell me your A and B and will tell you my Z.

ARE YOU SEEING ANYONE?
Yes and no. At the moment, I am most happy to spend time with my one-year-old daughter.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FATHER OF YOUR DAUGHTER?
He is in the USA and we split up. I think the differences became too many as time went by and we eventually grew apart. I am not used to explaining myself to somebody just because I am in the limelight; you either trust me or you don’t. I come from a very loving family where I am accepted for who I am.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A MAN?
If I am to fall in love again, I will look out for someone who understands me, who will differentiate Fifi, the television personality, from Fifi, the woman. Like any other girl, I want a God-fearing, caring man who will love me and my daughter.

WOULD YOU KNEEL FOR A MAN?
It depends, because not all men are men. In my culture, women kneel for men but I won’t kneel for everything in trousers; he has to deserve it.

ARE YOU A GOOD COOK?
I am good at cooking local dishes, but I need lessons for some western dishes.

DOES TRIBE MATTER WHEN CHOOSING A PARTNER?
Yes, it does. I wouldn’t marry from some tribes because I have my reservations, but a Muganda man is not top on the list of the tribes I would date from either.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN PREMARITAL SEX?
I do, as long as it is safe. When you look at our times, by the time a child reaches the age of consent, they know everything. It is, therefore, better if you open up to them early and talk to them. When you stop somebody from having sex, he or she becomes more eager to have it.

WOULD YOU RATHER CRY IN A MERCEDES BENZ OR LAUGH ON A BICYCLE?
I am a working class woman with my own car and job, why would I cry in a Mercedes?
Happiness is what I look for when I am dating.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR REACTION IF YOU CAUGHT YOUR PARTNER CHEATING?
I am the opposite of what most people think I am. I would move on and do my thing and let him do his own thing. We wouldn’t even talk about it; what would we have to discuss?

WHAT IS THE LONGEST RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE HAD?
The one with the father of my daughter; it lasted three years.

DO YOUR PARENTS OR FRIENDS’ OPINIONS MATTER IN A RELATIONSHIP?
My friends’ opinions do not matter but my parents’ do. I would consider what they have to say because I respect them. However, I make the final decisions.

HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO ACCOMMODATE  YOUR PARTNER? WOULD YOU FOR INSTANCE GIVE UP YOUR JOB TO BECOME A HOUSEWIFE?
Unfortunately, I don’t live my life on behalf of others. I live my life for myself, otherwise, who would live it for me?

DOES RELIGION MATTER WHEN CHOOSING A PARTNER?
Yes. I wouldn’t marry a person of a certain religion even if they were the last man on earth.

YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BODY. HOW DO YOU KEEP IN SHAPE?
This is how God created me, so I don’t do much. I just try to have a healthy diet, exercise and dress for my body shape. I don’t drink alcohol.
