Wife pinned at hubby’s funeral

JINJA - Instead of receiving words of sympathy upon the death of her husband, a woman in Bugembe was scolded by her neighbours for stealing their property.

Wetiya lost her husband recently and as usual, neighbours, relatives and friends gathered at her home to pay their respects.

Some of them went to the kitchen to help prepare a meal for the mourners.

Surprisingly, they found plates, saucepans and other household items in Wetiya’s kitchen,that had gone missing from their homes a few months ago.

Soon, word spread that Wetiya had been stealing from her neighbours and they decided to confront her.

They threatened to beat her up and it took the intervention of the LCs to calm down the residents.

Later, the neighbours abandoned the vigil and some of them were seen walking away with the items they claimed were theirs.

A day later, a few of Wetiya’s friends and relatives attended her husband’s burial. Since then, Wetiya has not been seen in the area.

Naughty turn boy pays dearly

KAMPALA - A turn boy paid for his boss’s crime when he tried to obstruct Police officers doing their work. A truck driver was stopped by traffic Police in Nakulabye on Hoima Road for committing an offence.

When the officers tried to pluck off the number plate from the vehicle, the turn boy obstructed and abused them. In the confusion, the driver sped off, leaving the turn boy at the scene.

This prompted the officers to arrest the turn boy. On realising that his boss had fled, he pleaded with the officers for mercy. His pleas, however, fell on deaf ears as he was dragged to Nakulabye Police Station and locked up.

Couple fight over Bukedde TV

KAMPALA - As the rest of Ugandans are enjoying the launch of Bukedde 2, a new television channel, a couple in Mutundwe, almost separated over the channel.

A man went home at about 10:00pm and found his wife watching music on Bukedde 2.

He tried to change the channel to Bukedde 1 to watch Agataliko Nfuufu news, but his wife refused.

A scuffle ensued as the couple struggled for the TV remote. They had a bitter exchange attracting the attention of their neighbours, who tried to calm them down in vain.

It took the intervention of their landlord to solve the matter. The landlord even threatened to throw them out of his premises, saying they had become a nuisance.

Upon hearing this, the man begged for mercy and promised not to quarrel with his wife again.

Man arrested for wearing dresstrue

KAMWOKYA - This man was taken to Kira Road Police Station by residents after they became suspicious of his behaviour.

The man identified as Mbabazi was accused of impersonating as a woman and conning men of their cash.

Residents claimed Mbabazi has been wearing women’s clothes, make-up and using feminine names.

Mbabazi, however, said he is a karaoke dancer. He claimed he was on his way to perform at local bar.

Boy abandons Facebook lover at lodge

JINJA - A 17-year-old girl, who was stranded at a lodge on Ghokale Street was forced to clean rooms when she failed to pay for a meal.

The girl had travelled from Kabale to meet her boyfriend, whom she met on Facebook. The love birds spent a night at the lodge and in the morning, they ordered for breakfast.

The boy then told her he was going to town to withdraw some money for her transport back to Kabale.

About fours hours later, the boy had not returned, yet the management at the lodge were demanding for money for the meal.

Apparently, the boy did not leave the girl with his phone number or address. She only knew him as Waibale, a name he was using on Facebook.

The girl tried to explain that she had met the boy on Facebook a few weeks ago, but the lodge management insisted she pays the money or be dragged to the Police.

Instead, she was forced to clean the rooms and wash bed sheets for two days as a punishment.

Mutungo trader rejects sh1,000 coin

KAMPALA - Even as the Jubilee year ended, most Ugandans have not had a chance to own the sh1,000 coin. The coin was issued by Bank of Uganda to commemorate 50 years of Independence.

In Mutungo, a shopkeeper surprised her colleagues when she rejected a sh1,000 coin. A middle-aged woman went to buy groceries at Nalongo’s shop and handed her a sh1,000 coin.

Immediately Nalongo saw the money, she rejected it, saying it was fake.

The woman’s explanations fell on deaf ears as Nalongo assured her that she would only accept a sh1,000 note. Nalongo also started shouting at the woman, calling her a fraudster.

The other shop keepers tried to convince her to accept the coin vain. Later, the woman paid for the goods with a sh1,000 note and also asked Nalongo to keep the coin as a souvenir.

Nalongo’s neighbours laughed at her.

Fake valuer messes up date, vanishes

ENTEBBE - An employee of a prominent valuation firm in town messed up his date when he lied about his study programme.

Apparently, Bob’s job as an assistant valuer is to read tape measurements and take notes about the description of a building.

But most times, he pretends to be the valuer. Recently, Bob spotted a beautiful girl at one of the homes.

He asked her out for a date and she agreed. During their date, the girl told him she was studying law at Makerere University.

In a bid to impress her, Bob also told her he was pursuing a Mary Stuart degree at the same university. The girl laughed at Bob and tried to convince him that Mary Stuart was a hall of residence at the university to no avail.

He instead told her that she was a disrespectful woman, who was likely not respect him as a fiancé.

A few minutes later, Bob moved away from where they were seated and pretended to be making a call. He walked towards the washrooms and vanished.
