The father of singer Jose Chameleone''s intruder has said reports that his son burned himself are false.

KAMPALA - The father of Robert Karamagi, the man who died from severe burns in an alleged arson attack at singer Jose Chameleone’s residence, has said his son did not burn himself.

Karamagi, 27, died at Mulago Hospital Thursday evening, only hours after his admission at the health facility.

Events that led to the intruder’s fatal mishap remain controversial but the singer’s wife Daniella Mayanja said Karamagi torched himself as he tried to burn her.

But the deceased father, Maj. Benedict Kyamanywa has contested reports that his son burned himself.

He insists that his son was tied with a rope and burnt inside the musician’s residence.

Speaking at Mulago on Thursday, Kyamanywa – an assistant medical officer at Kakiri Barracks – said his son was a mental case.

“My son had a mental problem and the whole village knew about it, including Chameleone,” he said.

“Sometime back, we took him to Butabika Mental Hospital for treatment and he had stabilized.”

He said that before his son died, he [Karamagi] told him that he was tied with ropes and burnt with Aviation fuel.
