Vincent Byamukama returned 147 gross over two days of action to win the Pepsi Independence Golf day tournament at the Palm Valley Golf and Country Club Course.

Vincent Byamukama returned 147 gross over two days of action to win the Pepsi Independence Golf day tournament at the Palm Valley Golf and Country Club Course.


Byamukama consequently bags the biggest share of the sh10.8m kitty that will be shared by those in the first top ten positions. Eighteen pros competed in the two-day event.

After an opening round of 73 that had Byamukama tying with Herman Mutawe and Denis Anguyo on the opening day for the professionals, the Entebbe golfer carded 74 on the second day to leave the chasing pack in his wake.

Towering Denis Anguyo who returned 76 on the second day finished second with 149 gross while Herman Mutaawe was third with 150 gross.

On and off Godfrey Mande (151 gross) and George Olayo (152) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Opio Onito, Stephen Odong, Deo Akope, Fred Wanzala and Silver Opio will also have a share on the cash.

The amateurs’ main event that has attracted over 100 golfers was officially teed off on Thursday morning by Pepsi Chairman Amos Nzeyi who played alongside Yohan Patel, Okello Ocero and Dr. Kato Ssebaale.
