The song Cheater’s Prayer is a staple in many a night club in Uganda. It was done by Jamaican reggae artiste Christopher Martin, whose other songs like Paper Loving and Ex-Girlfriend have hit the Ugandan dancehall mainstream circuits.
Then there’s Mavado, born David Constantine Brooks, a Jamaican dancehall artiste whose song Settle Down and So Special have wowed Ugandan fans who have a thing for Jamaican dancehall music.
The two are set to perform in Kampala next Saturday in an action-packed show billed one of the best this year has seen.
Mavado is currently the biggest Jamaican export to the US. Signed to VP Records, the award– winning Caribbean Girl star will be performing alongside Martin for the first time in East Africa. The artistes will arrive in the country on December 28, to perform the following day.
They are expected to perform their chart-hitting hits that have thrilled many Kampala fans. Martin is expected to perform songs like Paper Loving, Melody To My Son, Cheater’s Prayer as Mavado will sing hits like Settle Down, One By One and So Special.
Martin has performed on numerous occassions across Jamaica. For his smooth vocal chords, he has performed alongside international stars like Michael Bolton. Martin is optimistic about his career in music.
“It has been a wonderful journey filled with new and promising encounters. It is also challenging, but I love what I do,” he once said. The concert will be at Lugogo Cricket Oval
