Simba FC has fired their head coach Fred Kajoba after he reportedly failed to respond to the club’s request to renew his contract that expired last month.

Kajoba'S contract at Simba FC ran out at the end of September and the UPDF policy on employing civilian staff could not allow him to continue coaching at the club.

However Simba FC limited secretary Isaac Jurugo wrote to the tactician asking him whether he wished to continue coaching the team to no response while Kajoba has continued to be linked with another Uganda Premier League club Bright Stars FC since August.

“Whereas UPDF was not willing to renew his contract because he is a civilian, Simba FC had written to him asking to know whether he (Kajoba) can continue with us as an employee of the company. He pocketed the letter and kept quiet,” Jurugo explained.

He accused Kajoba of coaching Bright Stars in private thus paying divided attention to the clubs as Simba FC continues to degenerate.

Currently Simba is three spots above the relegation zone with a win and three losses. Kajoba, who took over from Sam Ssimbwa in 2009 could not be reached for comment as his cell-phone remained switched off for most of the day.

Kajoba has enjoyed a frosty relationship with the leadership of Simba FC especially after the league board slapped a five match ban on him and stripped the club of three points and three goals for their match that aborted at Wankulukuku last season.

Kajoba was also fined sh750,000 after the referee’s report implicated him in circumstances that led to the abandonment of the match against Express FC.

Jurugo said that Simba was already hunting for a qualified coach to assume the job with immediate effect because their assistant coach is not qualified enough to take on the mantle as required by FUFA rules.

FUFA rules require a coach to hold at least a CAF ‘C’ coaching certificate to handle a Uganda Premier League club.
