Football League reaches the semi-finals, competition manager Anthony Tumwesigye has acknowledged the need to step up security following an incident at Nkumba on Saturday.

Police had to shoot in the air to disperse a group of violent Makerere University fans who pelted the home supporters with stones after their team lost 2-0, consequently being ejected from the event.

“We anticipate more of such incidents as the league goes into the crucial stage where teams and their fans have eyes on the trophy. We will continue to urge the Police to keep alert to counter the violence,” Tumwesigye said.

It was the third time in three years of the competition that the ground at Nkumba has witnessed violence following earlier ones involving Kyambogo and MUBS after losing in the previous two editions.
