The main branch is at Johnstone Street and all the branches have modern facilities and equipment. Eye Care offers free eye examination and a wide range of designer and budget frames.
They have all types of lenses in plastic and glass, contact lenses and solutions as well as sun glasses. They test for glaucoma, do visual field analysis, frame repairs and offer all optical accessories.
They believe that by offering free eye checkup tin addition to their medical and business attributes and team of highly qualified and experienced optometrists, Eye Care Centre will be able to treat eye disorders, control blindness and maintain high standards of optical facilities in Uganda.
Hassan Alibhai, the managing director says: “In all the branches on average, Eye Care Centre treats between 30 to 50 patients daily.”
Customer Care
Like its motto; ‘The customer is always right’ suggests, Eye Care Centre maintains a high sense of customer care in its service delivery.
Alibhai says their staff pay attention to every customer’s problem. “The staff are trained to look after customers’ needs and at the same time giving quick and effi cient services,” he says.
Being a distributor of major brand frames and sun glasses, Alibhai says they offer their clients a wide variety of high quality products.
Expansion Drive
In mid-January next year, another branch of Eye Care Centre will be opened in Mbale due to the high demand for services. Alibhai says two more branches, one in Kampala and another in Entebbe, are also planned to open next year.
To be able to serve customers efficiently, the Eye Care Centre procured a surfacing laboratory, the Eye Care Laboratories Ltd. They produce lenses such as progressive, bi-focal and other eye prescription lenses in both plastic and glass material.
The laboratory has made Eye Care Centre’s work easier and saved time. Albhai says before opening the surfacing laboratory, they used to order lenses from Kenya, a process that took a lot of time. Currently they are able to offer laboratory services right here in Kampala.
This includes fitting of lenses for all the other branches, which is done at the main branch on Johnstone Street.
With most of its services in Kampala, Eye Care Centre is planning and looking for opportunities to open more branches up-country to take its services to the people who most need
