MUBS football team sent a strong message to the Nile Special University Football League when they over turned a 2-0 first leg defeat to beat Gulu University 4-0 in the return leg at the MUBS Arena on Friday.
It was a clear opposite of what MUBS coach Charles Ayiekho expected as his boys notched two goals in each half of the match while Gulu offered a complete reverse of their display at Pece stadium a week ago.
Joshua Matua who missed the first leg scored in the 13th minutes before Derrick Wasswa (30mins) doubled the lead to end the first half 2-0.
Paulo Kawawulo (60mins), who also missed the first leg and Davis Ninsiima (78mins) had MUBS fans celebrate ecstatically as they booked a semi-final against KIU.
The result did not reflect an earlier expectation of Ayiekho, who had described the match as ‘a mountain to climb.’
In the other semi-final fixture, Kyambogo waits for the winner of the return leg match between Nkumba and Makerere University in Entebbe on Saturday.
