American RnB sensation Chris Brown’s concert in Kampala which was slated for December 21, and later postponed to ‘early next year’ might never happen after all, after organisers baulked at paying $90,000 (sh234m) commitment fee out of the $450,000 (sh1.7b), he demanded to perform here.

They also had to cater for first class travel for all of Chris Brown’s 62 man crew. Moles have heard that with the International artistes slated to perform in South Africa on December 19, and December 20, 2012 as part of his Carpe Diem tour, it was easy for him to slot in the Kampala show for the following day.

Even with his astronomical demands, local organisers believed it was possible and hit the ground running. They only gave up when their efforts to raise the sum were thwarted by two giant telecoms and a tycoon who had no clue about Chris Brown.

As it is, both sides refused to put pen to paper. For us, the biggest consolation is that we shall not have to hide our girlfriends, sisters and wives as the multiplatinum singer-songwriter isn’t destined for Kampala anytime soon.
