Coach Yayiro Kasasa has added steam to the team preparing for the annual Safaricom 7s rugby tournament scheduled for September 27-28 in Kenya by summoning three youngsters.
The national 7s team coach said Paul Epillo, Solomon Okia and KeithSseruyange have already joined their colleagues for training held at the Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala.
“The boys are doing well in other areas but are still wanting in the aspects of strength and conditioning” Kasasa told New Vision after a training session.
The other players in training are James Ijongat, Philip Wokorach, James Odong, Michael Wokorach, Ezekiel Okou, Gabriel Aredo, Ramathan
Govule, Alfred Bijik and Brian Kikawa.
Lawrence Ssebuliba, Emmanuel Echudu and Allan Otim are in training too.
Also in training are Eric Kasita, James Musiitwa and Jasper Ochen.
The team will be trimmed to 12 for the tournament in Nairobi.
Meanwhile, the girls U-19 team could for the first time compete in the age group category at the competition in Nairobi.
The women rugby governing body’s chairperson Irene Namapii said that participation in the event is part of a plan to build a team for the future.
Namapii said that they need sh15m to send the team to Nairobi.
