Cab driver murdered in broad daylight

A cab driver was on Saturday murdered in broad day light at Kololo after he was stabbed by yet unidentified assailants. 

Brian Lusiba, 25, a resident of Nansana-Kabumbi, was operating at the Kamwokya taxi stage.

One of his colleagues, Jamir Katalaga, narrated that two men approached the stage on Saturday morning and asked Lusiba to take them to their destination. He took them in another colleague’s car, a silver grey Toyota Ipsum registration number UAQ 644U. 

Shockingly at 3.00pm the Police at Kira Road Police station called them saying their friend had been stabbed and the car robbed.

They told them they were rushing Lusiba to Mulago referral hospital in very critical condition.

The Kira Road Police station chief, Robert Walugembe, said the deceased was callously stabbed in the neck and chest at Kololo near Makenzie Valley.

He said by the time they arrived at the scene after they were alerted by passersby, Lusiba was lying at the roadside in very critical condition.

“We found a blood-stained knife that had been used to stab him at the scene. Though he was stabbed near a Police station in Kololo, he did not manage to raise an alarm,” Walugemebe said. 

Lusiba’s mother, Nnaalongo Grace Nantaba, said Lusiba breathed his last on Sunday morning.

The deceased, who did not have a child or wife, will be laid to rest at Kyotera in Rakai District today Monday.

In February, 2012 at Lubaga Hospital taxi stage a cab driver identified only as Mukasa was hired, but he was later found dead and his body dumped at Lusaze in Lubaga Division and his car stolen.

On May 20, 2012 Kajjansi Police arrested Ezekeri Katalaga and Jimmy Nganda of Bunamwaya after they were found with a Toyota Premio that had been stolen from a driver identified as Wabbi. His body had been found at Bunamwaya. The car was found in Pakwach en route to Sudan.

On May 23, 2012 Fred Mawejje who worked at Mengo taxi stage driving a Toyoto Premio cheated death when a man who had told him he was picking a patient from Nansana doused him with chloroform in an isolated spot.

However, his guardian angels were working overtime that day. He managed to speed off before his assailants could accomplish their mission and was treated in hospital for a week.

On July 18, 2012 Peter Badokwaya Pepe who worked at Mengo stage, was hired by assailants at midday. His body was later found dumped at Mutwe, at Lukwanga village near Sentema.

He had been bludgeoned with a hammer on the forehead and stabbed in the neck and stomach and his arms amputated.
