KAMPALA - Joachim Golooba and Henry Wanyama fired MUBS to a 2-1 win over Kampala International University at MUBS on Monday to cement their title bid in the Super Six University Football League.

But despite the hard-earned victory, MUBS remained stuck in the fourth position on the six-team table on 13 points behind Kyambogo (17), Makerere (16) and Nkumba 15 points.

MUBS must win their remaining two fixtures and pray the top two lose their remaining games if Nakawa-based institution should lift the trophy.

Golooba had put MUBS in the lead 28 minutes into the game before Ismail Kajingo equalised four minutes after the hour mark. And just as the game appeared destined for a draw, Wanyama was on the mark with the winner in the 74th minute.

MUBS coach Charles Ayieko, who had expected to give KIU a thorough beating, remained optimistic his team still has the chance to win the inaugural trophy.

But the narrow win especially after MUBS’ 5-0 victory in the first leg appears to be a major setback not only to him but their ambitions to win the title.
