Uganda took the first four positions in the senior men last year and want to repeat the same in this year's event.

“It is going to be hard, but we will not let it go that easily. The weather is good and all of us have the target. The good thing is that we are running as a team, helping each other and that is what we need to retain the title,” said Kibet after the team went across the course.

But the athletes will have to battle against the natural highlands of the Alp ranges as they fight to reach Cassette De Misa, the place where the finishing point has been set high in a marble quarry.

All the different categories have different starting points, but all finishing at the same quarry, in what is expected to be a scenic but difficult race through tunnels.
